Find Orville! Photo Challenge
Our official (and only slightly ridiculous) family reunion photo mission
The Mission
Somewhere in Valparaiso, Indiana stands a statue of the one, the only, Orville Redenbacher – popcorn legend and hometown hero. Your job, should you choose to accept it (and you should, it’s a family reunion rule), is to track him down and snap a selfie with him.
Be as creative, silly, or heartfelt as you like. Bonus points for props, matching outfits, popcorn snacks, or convincing Orville to “smile” for the camera.

Clues to Track Him Down
We won’t just hand you a pin on a map — where’s the fun in that? Here’s what we can tell you:
- He’s relaxing in downtown Valparaiso, Indiana — no long hike required.
- He didn’t stand up for this one — he’s sitting on a park bench, so there’s room to sit beside him.
- He’s dressed for a TV commercial: bow tie, suspenders, and his signature horn-rimmed glasses.
- Look for him near the entrance to a downtown park, right along a well-traveled main street through the city.
- He’s kept great company through the years — he’s not far from a few other local landmarks and public art in the same plaza.
- Funny enough, you won’t see the word “popcorn” anywhere on the statue itself — corporate rules, apparently. You’ll just have to know him by the bow tie and the grin.
